Minor dents and scratches plus “ mechanical damage” and a salvage title of course. Otherwise, remarkably clean.

Looks like an interesting opportunity to me.

“Primary damage: mechanical”

There are potentially  unplumbed depths of woe buried in that phrase.  But for $100, it becomes a great idea!

Do you want it for you or do you want it for resale?

A ‘68 T-bird was my mom’s first car. I’d buy the heck outta that at any reasonable price, just because I want it. And then LS swap it.

If you want to fix it and resell, idk how much “salvage” affects a classic’s title. But probably enough to not make it worth it.

If I lived near there I’d tell you it’s a bad idea and you shouldn’t do it.

Mainly so I didn't have to outbid you.

I know getting a non-salvage title once the car is fixed is easy in some states but not others... Honestly I don’t have the space or money for repairs, so mostly I’m just interested in this out of curiosity. And maybe to bait other Oppos into buying Th underbirds...

Yeah, it’s too far away from me too. Strangely, there appear to be a lot of decent-looking classic Thunderbirds on Copart right now. Most of them look like they only need a little mechanical work to get running again... Weird.

That is very weird.   Potentially a great deal, mechanical is straightforward enough.

And even if it turns out the drivetrain is totally grenaded, a simple LS swap will fix that and it’s still cheap. Old cars are awesome that way.

I would assume that fuel lines, brake lines etc are shot too, but that’s alsi still doable if it’s not rusty.

I'd go Coyote because Ford, but LS works too.

Body and interior look really clean, and I’d figure doing the c osmetics properly c ould easily exceed the cost of mechanical restoration on something like this

Depending on where the price ends out I can’t really see a way you could go wrong. Depending on the process to get it off the salvage title in your state that is.

I’d say this isn’t a bad idea. It’s such a not bad idea that it got me daydreaming about I’d get it to Ohio.. I suppose coparts doesn’t ship between their yards, do they? There’s one between me and downtown that’d be much more convenient than Kansas..
